Step 1: prepare the meat.

After - with the same sharp object, we cut the meat ingredient across the fibers into medium pieces thick no more than 1 centimeter. Now the meat needs to be beaten off well. To prevent juice from meat pieces from splashing around the kitchen, wrap them in several layers of cling film and use a special hammer to beat the meat to a thin layer. Attention: if you don’t have such equipment at hand, do not be discouraged, since the ingredient can also be beaten off with the back of a kitchen knife, only in time it will unfortunately take much more. When all the meat has been beaten, remove the cling film and sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste, and then transfer our ingredient to a free plate. Important: since the mayonnaise itself, which will also be used in our dish, already has these ingredients, salt and pepper our meat is necessary in moderation.

Step 2: prepare the potatoes.

Using a knife, peel the potatoes and rinse well under running water. Dry the potatoes with a paper towel and transfer it to a cutting board. Using a knife, we cut the roots across into small pieces of thickness so that they bake at the same time as meat and do not burn at the base of the baking sheet.

Step 3: prepare the onion.

Using a knife, peel the onion from the husk, rinse under running water. Then - on a cutting board with a knife, cut our ingredient into medium rings and transfer them to a free plate.

Step 4: prepare the mushrooms.

We wash the champignons under running water, and also let the water drain, transferring them to a paper towel. Next, on a cutting board with a knife, cut our ingredient into four parts and transfer to a free plate. Attention: If you have not found medium-sized mushrooms, do not be discouraged. Mushrooms of other sizes will serve as their replacement. Then we cut the ingredient into pieces that you like more, the main thing is that they have time to bake together with the other components of the dish.

Step 5: prepare the cheese.

You can take any hard cheese to prepare our dish. Using an average grater, grind our ingredient and immediately after that we transfer the cheese chips to a free plate.

Step 6: prepare the mayonnaise.

Since we use mayonnaise of 72% fat to prepare our dish, you must first dilute it slightly with warm boiled water in order to reduce its fat content on the one hand and, on the other hand, for the thinner mayonnaise mixture to soak all our ingredients well during baking. Then the dish will turn out more juicy and tender. We take a bowl and pour warm boiled water into it. Using a tablespoon, pour mayonnaise into it and mix the two ingredients well until smooth.

Step 7: Cook the French Beef

We spread all the ingredients alternately in layers in a baking dish. The baking dish can be not only a baking sheet, but also a cast-iron frying pan with high sides without a handle. Using a pastry brush, evenly grease the bottom of the mold with vegetable oil and lay on it sliced ​​potatoes, meat, onions and mushrooms. It is very important that our dish is baked as evenly as possible, so it is important to distribute the layers with the ingredients evenly across the surface of the mold. Using a tablespoon, evenly distribute the mayonnaise mass over the entire surface of the last layer, and then evenly sprinkle the dish over the entire surface with grated cheese. Using tacks, put the dish in the oven, preheating it to temperature 180 ° C. French beef being cooked 35-40 minutes. The readiness of the dish can be checked with a toothpick: if it freely pierces the ingredients and, first of all, the meat, then the beef is ready in French. Turn off the oven and set our dish aside for 10 minutes, so that it cools slightly.

Step 8: serve the beef in French.

When the meat has cooled a little, we cut it with a knife into portioned slices and, using a cooking spatula, carefully transfer it to a wide serving dish.
